Police conducted an operation that led to the apprehension of four out of five suspected UPND youths that are currently in police custody.  The suspects include Andrew Sichimba aged 27 of mukulumpe Township, Bornface Kaonga aged   30  of Musenga township, Phiri Nathan aged 22 of Amini village chief Mwamba and Kalimwengo Costern aged 24 of Winburg Compound and all are from Kasama District. CHARCOAL BRIKETS A CLEAN ENERGY SOURCE TO CURB DEFORESTATION

Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati says there is a solution to promote green charcoal energy and restrain deforestation. Mr Mutati said Chikakanta has engraved a mark of a green economy providing an opportunity for job creation refraining its people from dependence handout vices. He said the green charcoal energy will create an industry that will produce and supply environmentally source of energy for a clean green economy. Minister Mutati explianed that President Hakainde Hichilema wants his government to deliver youth jobs, better lives of the people of Zambia, and build the economy. Mr Mutati was speaking, today, at the launch of charcoal brikets facilitated by the National Business and Technology Council (NTBC) in Chikankata. UPND Youth Chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso has warned that UPND will not be taking people who are criticizing them to the police, they will just be beating them up.  "We were in opposition and we did not rely on the police to handle our issues, so we won't rely on them even now, we are taking things in our own hands" Liswaniso said.  When contacted, police did not give any comment on Mr Liswaniso's Statement.

KATETE MAN KILLS WIFE AT HER PARENTS HOUSE Police in Lusaka have arrested Isaac Chulu aged 33 of Katete in Eastern Province after he handed himself to the Police for shooting dead his 28 year old wife Modai Mwambazi of Katete. According to the Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, the incident occurred on Tuesday 18th January, 2022 at around 18:00 hours in Kabanana Site and Service in Lusaka.  Mr. Hamoonga said on the fateful day around 07:00 hours, the deceased called her father Clement Mwambazi and informed him that they were travelling to Lusaka from Katete to sort out their marital disputes which the couple was facing. He said according to the father of the deceased, around 18:00 hours upon arrival in Kabanana Site and Service in Lusaka in the company of a marriage counselor and friend to the suspect, they sat to discuss the matter. 21st January, 2022 WAS ONE OF THE FINEST GRZ-PRIVATE SECTOR ENGAGEMENTS IN A LONG-TIME The GRZ-Bankers Association of Zambia (BAZ) Consultative Meeting held today has tasked the latter to develop products that will facilitate streamlined access to finance for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's) sustainability and growth, rural development and expansion, and innovation and skills development. The Consultative Meeting recognized that one of the challenges facing players in the economy is access to afforbale financial sector products.  Some of the house-keeping measures that the Government could take to facilitate access to finance, were also discussed.  Going forward, a task team will be constituted among BAZ members to submit to the Government, a product proposal document that is aimed at addressing the financial needs of SME's, rural development, and innovation and skills development.
